Beach Bars in Puerto Vallarta

Beach Bars in Puerto Vallarta

When asked which are the best beach bars in Puerto Vallarta, we did a survey that came in with diverse results. It totally depends on what you are looking for in a beach bar.

Garza Blanca is a private resort in Puerto Vallarta, located on the highway to Barra de Navidad, but their beach bar, Aguazul is open to the public. You have the choice of swimming in the ocean and sunbathing on the beach or making use of two luxury pools surrounded by chaise lounges. This is not an adult-only location and they cater to families, with great menu items for kids. We’ve heard the daytime bar and food are worth going back for and they get high marks for service.

To the north in Puerto Vallarta, located right on the beach at Los Muertos, Mantamar Beach Bar& Sushi also gives you a choice of salt or fresh water. Stake out your time on a chic four-poster bed and relax all day long, with a great swim-up bar and raved-about food service. Mantamar is adults only and centered in the midst of the gay community but very proud to say they are straight-friendly. They work hard to give the best customer service and are known for their excellent pool parties. If you’re looking for dancing around the pool, Mantamar is the place, with great DJs playing music from morning until night.

The only drawback with Swell Beach Bar, a little further north on Los Muertos Beach is how popular it is. Service is excellent, with a basic menu, cold beer and fabulous mixed drinks but it’s not a huge space, so get there early to get a good seat and plop down under one of the umbrellas that shelter you from the sun. People visiting Puerto Vallarta come back to Swell annually and rave about the servers, who have stayed consistent season after season. They are gay and straight-friendly and welcome families, too.

On the malecón next to the ocean, Day Off Beach Bar is popular with the young set, though older folks hang out here, too. The music brings people in since everyone loves the oldies-but-goodies. Their tableside guacamole is a must, having your waiter prepare this Puerto Vallarta favorite in a traditional molcajete. It’s people watching time on the malecón, with a cold beer or delicious margarita and the ocean a few steps away.

Also on the malecón, a stone’s throw to the north, is Mango’s Beach Club. This is a restaurant that offers patio or beach seating, a beach bar and happy hours. We’ve heard great things about their Sunday brunch from many of our hungry researchers. At Mango’s, they like to change up the drink and food menu to keep things interesting.

No matter which beach club you choose in Puerto Vallarta, and these are only a few of the options, don’t forget your flip flops for getting around; the sand gets very hot.
